10 months ago by James Problem fixed: Trim Switch at throttle handle. After determining for sure that my problem was the trim switch itself, I ordered the trim switch in the control handle of a Quicksilver Commander 3000. My boat is a 1999 16’ Bass Tracker Pro 165 with the Merc 40 hp. I watched several YouTube videos before attempting the job. I took the control handle apart and put in a new trim switch and other parts that I ordered just to replace the worn ones. Worked perfectly and fixed my trim switch problem.
The trick to getting the push button out is this; push the button in and position the fuel handle all the way forward as if idling at high speed. This releases the button to come out. I ordered a new button as well and would recommend that you do the same, along with a new bushing and spring and new srews and so on. I also recommend lubing all the moving parts as you put the controls back together (I used Honda Molly grease).
Not a bad job if your mechanically minded. Glad that I found Crowley Marine for my parts.
Thank you Crowley Marine. 5 months ago by Bruce Problem fixed: Throttle disengage button on shifter broken While attempting to repair my power trim wiring on the throttle/shift handle I broke the button that releases the shifter from the shift cable (it only comes out one way, if the throttle lever is advanced about 1/4 or 1/3 forward and it HAS to come to remove the handle). Used 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500 lt.
Ordered a new release button from Crowley, completed the repair on the power trim wiring and reassembled the throttle handle and mounted it to the control box. Watch YouTube or read instructions on how to disassemble the handle and follow them. 2 months ago by Steve Problem fixed: Trim switch was broken Remove the shifter panel trim pieces then next took out the torx screws along the handle shifter then remove the 11/16 nut down inside the handle took off the handle pulled the old switch wires out disconnected at the plug under the dash.
Next reversed my steps by pulling the new switch wires back in through shifter panel and reinstall into handle replace nut and then put the handle back together and last put covers on. The only tricky thing get the throttle push pin out, I push shifter in gear to get my out. Feb, 02 2015 by Emery Problem fixed: Re-jet carbs, rebuild fuel pump, new seals in lower unit and replace water pump impeller. Bought the boat in the fall.
Most models of the truck are distinguishable by a front 'Canter' badge, but the common Mitsubishi badge is usually used on the rear. 4d34i engine service manual.
I wanted to make sure that it runs as well as possible at our elevation. Re-jetted carbs, put a kit in the fuel pump since the old diaphragm was stretched, put a new impeller and gaskets in the water pump and replaced all seals in the lower unit. I like a boat to be reliable and would rather spend my summer time fishing than making unforeseen repairs.

Mercury Outboard Parts After WWII recreational boating became popular. Unfortunately, early outboard motors were underpowered, and over time, proved highly unreliable. In the early 1950s, a young engineer, Carl Kiekaefer, began reselling outboards he refurbished as a sideline to support his inventions for the dairy industry. It soon became apparent to mariners that his was a superior product. After his first order for 16,000 outboards, however, Carl quickly changed his mind about what line of work to pursue.
He named his outboards Mercury, after the fleet-footed Roman messenger, and never patented another dairy innovation again. Did you know that early racing outboards were sold as having 25 hp but actually had 40 hp? Giving more has been a Mercury standard, and their outboards quickly became a marine industry giant. Mercury’s primary business is outboard motors. They make small outboards, up to 30 hp, midsize engines up to 60 hp and in their Wisconsin facility that once made dairy products, Mercury manufactures engines over 75 hp. In addition, they manufacture Mercury outboard parts, so that owners can expect many hours of reliable service from their Mercury outboards.
