I think they are a better baler than any make. We were thinking of buying one but found a jd instead. They make a nicer bale than a jd they have this sledge with forming rolls to pack the center of the bale. Just you will see one every now and then in the shop for repairs and don' t take me wrong our jd needs repairs also. If you are making under 2000 bales a year will last you a long time.a neighbor has a 664 NH baler with over 20000 bales so they do last.
And you see a few new holland and Caseih out in the country. You have to grease the belt declutch with the baler running or else it doesn't get greased and gets ruined. You don't need to do it with the baler running, Just with the endgate cracked open enough to take the pressure off the shaft.
They just put the zerk on the wrong place. We did add remote lines to those zerks on our machine though so we don't need to dig through the chaff to find em. NH balers are pretty popular in our area too. You seldom see one in CasiIH colors though.
Deere would be the next most popular and then a few Vermeers and Hesstons kicking around. We run a BR780 which is the same baler except in the 'right' paint. The BR series balers (and the RBX too) are a big improvement over the older NH belt balers like the 660, 664, etc. The roller bearings are on the outside of the frame and are MUCH easier to change when they need service.
No need to drop the whole roller out of the machine to get at em. We only roll up about 1000 bales per year, but the previous owner did around 3000 or so. 8 years on our machine total.

We're on the second set of belts and we did all of the roller bearings after we lost the first one last summer. It was just time to do the rest.cheap insurance against burning up a baler. We drop the picker and service it every couple years. Usually need a few teeth but we haven't killed any picker bars. That's up to the person doing the windrowing though. I can't compare them to any JD except for the old 535s, which are clunky old bass-ackwards machines to work on. Personally, I prefer the old 849, 853, 855 style roller/chain balers over any belt baler.but that's just me and they are old machines.
You dodged a bullet there.I'm surprised that rig didn't burn up! Good time to check the rest of em before any more lunch while you're rolling hay. Ya know I really hadn't paid any attention to those side panels on the CIH tailgate before.dumb idea.
I'd leave em off too. Just to make inspection and cleaning easier. I haven't looked at those new balers up close yet. Bmw repair manual e46 2018. From across the lot it looks mostly like a cosmetic dress-up job except for the twine/net wrap setup. Not sure I like the twine box in front.
Looks like it makes it even harder to crawl up on top to check the upper rollers. You have to grease the belt declutch with the baler running or else it doesn't get greased and gets ruined. You don't need to do it with the baler running, Just with the endgate cracked open enough to take the pressure off the shaft. They just put the zerk on the wrong place. NH balers are pretty popular in our area too. Personally, I prefer the old 849, 853, 855 style roller/chain balers over any belt baler.but that's just me and they are old machines. I am bailing with a 850 NH and have been for the last 38 years now but am down to around 500 bales per year. Bought it new and only have two more payments. The roller closest to the drive roller had cracked collars and a cracked left bearing.
Which roller is it in the parts book? The parts man couldn't figure it out. Are you talking about the roller with the two-bolt flange bearing on it? Right below & slightly behind the drive roller.the one you've got the bolts out on? If so, that's the backwrap roller.
New Holland 650 Baler Manual
In the RBX563 catalog look at page 14.53. Part #1 is the roller & #2 is the bearing.
It's the same bearing that the tailgate rollers use. I'm not at the farm so I can dig in my records so I'm working from memory but I think it's a 30mm or 32mm shaft in an 80mm 2-bolt flange housing. If you can find a cross reference number try to find Fafnir bearings from your local bearing supply house, Grainer, Motion Industries, etc instead of the chinese garbage that comes in the CNH box. If I can dig up the number I'll post it here.
